Born in Mexico City

Born in Mexico City and raised between Oaxaca and Guanajuato, Franco’s journey to becoming a respected fashion designer in LA is anything but typical. His roots in Mexico gave him an appreciation for color, texture, and artisanal craft—elements that now define his aesthetic. But before draping muslin or sketching silhouettes, Franco’s early academic path was in accounting, both in Mexico and later in the United States.

Educated in Cal State Long Beach

It wasn’t until he embraced his passion for creativity that Franco’s true calling emerged. He pursued an Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Business Administration from Long Beach City College, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising from Cal State Long Beach, where he earned membership in the prestigious Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. This foundation gave him not just design skills, but also the business savvy necessary to run a brand in the ever-changing world of fashion.

A Studio with Purpose in the Fashion District

Today, Will Franco operates out of his own atelier in the heart of Los Angeles’ Fashion District, a buzzing hub of textiles, designers, and creative energy. His brand, Will Franco Designs, is known for crafting custom couture gowns, pieces designed with precision, elegance, and storytelling in mind. He works closely with private clients, celebrities, and editorial teams, offering both bespoke creations and ready-to-wear collections.

But Franco’s work goes far beyond beauty. He is committed to ethical fashion, producing his garments in the United States under fair labor standards, while sourcing many materials from his home country of Mexico. This cross-cultural process allows him to support Mexican artisans and textile makers while honoring the values of sustainable, local production.

His collections are deeply inspired by identity, migration, celebration, and visibility, especially for LGBTQ+ communities and immigrants. His designs are often showcased at cultural events, pride festivals, and fashion shows with a deeper message. To Franco, every dress is a declaration.

Fashion as Cultural Connection

Franco’s designs are unmistakably his: bold colors, intricate embroidery, daring silhouettes, and luxurious fabrics that echo the spirit of Mexican craftsmanship. But his work is also distinctly Angeleno, modern, editorial, and fearless. From red carpet events to Coachella weekends, his creations have become a part of the city’s creative pulse.

And while his garments speak volumes, Franco also shares his vision through social media, where he’s cultivated a growing following. On Instagram (@itswillfranco and @willfrancodesigns) and TikTok (@willfrancodesigns), he shares behind-the-scenes videos of fittings, fabric sourcing trips, runway prep, and his own personal reflections. His content bridges the glossy world of fashion with the real emotions and challenges behind the scenes.

Designer. Storyteller. Community Builder.

What sets Will Franco apart is not just talent, but heart. He designs not to chase trends, but to celebrate identity. He chooses fabrics that tell stories. He partners with organizations and causes that reflect his values. Whether he’s working with a client for a special occasion or showcasing a new collection, Franco leads with purpose.

As fashion increasingly turns its eyes to sustainability, authenticity, and representation, Will Franco represents the future: a designer who blends tradition and modernity, culture and commerce, glamour and grit.

In every stitch, Franco sews a message: one that says style can be powerful, inclusive, and deeply personal.
